 Arrest warrant against Netanyahu 'brave move' by ICC: Erdogan

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has praised the International Criminal Court (ICC) for issuing arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Galant, calling it a "courageous step." He made the remarks at an event in the Turkish capital, Istanbul, on Saturday.

Erdogan said, "We support the arrest warrants. We consider this courageous decision by ICC member states to restore trust in humanity in the international system."

The ICC issued arrest warrants on Thursday against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and two other leaders, as well as Hamas military commander Mohammed Deif, for crimes against humanity and war crimes.

Erdogan also said, "Western countries have taught the world about law, justice and human rights for years. Now, at this stage, they must fulfill those promises." It is worth noting that Turkey is not a member of the ICC.

Erdogan has been harshly criticizing Israel since its attack on Gaza in October last year.

This month, 52 countries around the world, including Turkey, sent a letter to the United Nations demanding an end to arms sales and supplies to Israel.
